【海韵讲座】2017年第40期- A Crash Course on Deep Learning
讲座题目：A Crash Course on Deep Learning
讲座摘要： Deep learning is revolutionizing the field of machine learning and what we can do with data. In this "crash course" I will review neural networks, their intuition, and why they work. The primary focus will be on classification and the extension of multinomial logistic regression to deeper neural nets. I will also discuss modifications of this basic framework to images using convolutional neural networks, as well as some of the recent tricks that have been developed to make neural nets work.
主讲人简介：John Paisley is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University, where he is also a member of the Data Science Institute. He received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University in 2004 and 2010. From 2010 to 2013 he was a postdoc in the Computer Science departments at Princeton University and UC Berkeley. His research focuses on Bayesian methods for machine learning, including Bayesian nonparametrics and variational inference techniques. He applies these to several problems in signal and information processing, including compressed sensing and topic modeling.
